"There's a feeling of devastation here at the.loss of a fine young man in a close-knit community,".Ballyduff parish priest Fr Brendan Walsh.said, following the death of local man Shane.Crickard (20) in a road crash on Monday. Shane, from Kilmore in.Ballyduff, lost his life on.Monday morning after his.motorcycle collided with.a van on the road between.Causeway and Ballyheigue.in North Kerry..The accident occurred at.8.40am, a mile from.Causeway village. The.van driver was not.injured..The road was closed for.several hours for garda.investigations of the.scene, and was re-opened.on Monday afternoon. A.post-mortem on Mr.Crickard's body was carried.out at Kerry General.Hospital, Tralee..Described as a fun loving.young man, Shane.worked with his uncles.John and David Grady in.the building industry..SLIPPERY."We are heartbroken and.deeply saddened with the.death of our lovely son,.Shane," said the victim's.father, Philip, a chef at Kate.Brown's in Ardfert.."The first love in his life.was his family. He adored.all of us and especially his.brother Jim (16) and sister.Denise (12).."He loved cars and motorbikes..Shane's car was in.the garage on the day of his.tragic death and he opted to.travel to work on his motorcycle.."The previous days were.sunny and perhaps melted.the tar.
